Fitting a new emblem

  • Hello octavia-rs.com members.

I'm from Slovenia, so i don't really speak German well.

I also own a Skoda Octavia vRS (2010, TDI, limousine), so I have a question.
I've noticed that some members have already fitted the new emblems on a vRS...

I know that the front one fits OK since it is the right size. But how do you fit the rear one? It is larger than the mounting hole. If you remove the old emblem, how do you fill up the empty space inside?

    I've bought 2x 1ST 853 630 A AUL emblems. Is this OK?

I would be very thankfull if someone gave me some info or a how-to guide/thread.

P.S. I'm kind of a new on this forum, so I'm sorry if I placed this thread in a wrong place.

    Thanks in advance. :peace:

  • Hi Giggs,

Welcome! Don't mind about posting a new thread - one of our admins will move or merge it if necessary ;)
What I can say about the trunk emblem: to remove it just warm it a bit (to make the glue a bit more flexible) and then "band saw" it with a piece of dental floss or a thin thread. It is additionally positioned with two plastic bolts. Just lift it off and clean the remaining glue.
To mount the new one you may use windscreen adhesive like Teroson or comparable. Make sure to place it correct and in the right angle - the new logo not includes the positioning feature. It will fit pretty seamlessly into the pit.
The part number you bought is correct

    Hope this helps... :bibber:

  • Thank you for reply Soundfreund.

I thought that I bought the right ones too, but than I found this thread:

    And this one also

    Since it is curved (gekrümmt).

Well this one (1ST 853 630 A AUL) does. Three of them.

"It will fit pretty seamlessly into the pit."
I don't understand this. It cannot fit into the pit since it is oversized.

    Thx for info. :peace:

  • The three little plastic bolts may need to be removed - I forgot to say. Sorry for that.

1ST 853 601A will not fit. The curved shape leads to slots on the sides.

What I wanted to say with seamlessly is -> the logo will pretty much fill the complete pit, sticking out a bit. The little gap showing off around the original emblem will vanish. I recommend to try it on your own. For my taste the look is not perfect, so I personally stick to the old one.
